COFFEE WITH JESUS Good Morning, Jesus! I greeted. Jesus was getting ready for our trip to Arkansas. Good morning, son, He answered. He wiped down the counter where some coffee had overflowed from the thermos He prepared. You ready? I asked. Oh, surprised that we were ready to leave, Jesus stalled, let me double check to see if everything is turned off. I looked around the kitchen and thought of the tremendous fact for every one of us is that we have discovered Jesus as a common solution. I could hear Jesus moving around in the back of the house. I am going to put the coffee in the truck! I yelled into thin air. Ok, a muffled voice returned,Good idea! You know, through Jesus, we have a way out on which we can absolutely agree. The air was moist from a mild winter rain. I checked the tires and continued to reflect on the goodness of Christ and upon how we can join in brotherly and harmonious action. Almost ready! Christ yelled from the house. I smiled. He must be the great news the good book carries to those who suffer from this world. Jesus appeared at the front door then immediately retreated to retrieve something forgotten. I climbed into our ol truck. And thought of how the most far-reaching work Christ must have done was to organize the publication of the Bible. I mean, think about it, nothing can equal that book for carrying the message of Christ. My challenge is getting out of myself and simply doing what I can. I stared out the windshield toward the sky. Even if I havent been asked to serve others and my phone rarely rings, I am still able to do Christ work. I felt warmth and goodness flood my spirit. I started creating ideas of servicing or simply getting involved in this spiritual brotherly and harmonious action. I checked to see. And Jesus had not returned to the doorway. I thought of how, at church, I could show up early to greet people and to help set up, and to share my experience, strength and hope. Jesus came through the door smiling and waving as He approached the truck Jesus gives me exactly what He wants me to do at any given point in my relationship with Him and, if I let Him, my willingness will bring discipleship automatically. We were almost to the Highway before our silence broke. Jesus quickly looked at me and said, there is another urgency before me now. I feel compelled to go to Arkansas! I’m completely in the dark about what Jesus is talking about. Jesus hesitated them said, I do know that it won’t be any picnic, for the Holy Spirit has let me know repeatedly and clearly that there are hard times and imprisonment ahead. WHAT?! My heart leaped into my chest! He said, But that matters little. What matters most to me is to finish what God started! I am petrified! I start slowing down. I have every intention of turning around! Jesus said, the job I give you is to let everyone you meet know all about this incredibly extravagant generosity of God. I thought Jesus has lost His mind! Just then, Jesus turned His head while simultaneously telling brother Tom Pitken goodbye as He spoke into His Bluetooth device on His ear! Jesus looked at me and said Bluetooth is cool!
