COLORADO LIBRARY SYSTEM ANNOUNCES FUND-RAISING EFFORT FOR NEW - TopicsExpress

COLORADO LIBRARY SYSTEM ANNOUNCES FUND-RAISING EFFORT FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION Officials with the Douglas County Libraries in Castle Rock, Colorado, have announced a fund-raising campaign designed to build three new libraries. The “No Leaf Unturned” capital campaign, if successful, will see the construction of new libraries in the towns of Castle Pines, Lone Tree and Parker. Previous county bond measures designed to raise money for such work have failed. But the library system has set aside some $20 million to be dedicated to new construction. The first library project will most likely take place in downtown Parker where town officials have offered the library system a site to build on. Construction could begin as early as later this year. Work on the other two new libraries most likely won’t start until 2016. DCL officials say the new libraries are needed to accommodate an increase in patron usage, which has gone up by 24 percent since 2007. By Garry Boulard
