COLUMBUS, Ohio - A mother tries to explain to her daughter why a house cat is missing after her estranged husband allegedly put the cat in the microwave and turned it on. Stephen Schneider is behind bars facing multiple charges. Officers say they had to chase Schneider down in order to get him in custody and answer to charges. Authorities say he tried to get away from police by jumping out of a second story of an apartment on the 800 block East Dublin Granville Road. Police say he ran across six lanes of traffic, before being police used a taser on him and put him in handcuffs. Jacqualine Schneider says it all started earlier that day when her estranged husband visited and an argument spiraled out of control. Right here, from where my glasses slid across my face, says Schneider. She showed 10TV a scar she says she got when Schneider punched her. She says thats not the end of his rage. She says she went upstairs to get away from her husband. She heard another odd noise downstairs. The clinking, the microwave, I could hear it banging, says Schneider. So, I run downstairs and thats where I found my cat in the microwave. Schneider called out to her roommate that his cat was suffering. When I got home, I found her holding the cat on the floor. Her eyes would look right through you. It was awful. It was the worst thing I had ever seen in my life, says roommate, James Keplar. Of the three cats in this house, Schneider says her estranged husband put her roommates cat in the microwave. Now, he holds one of her cats closely, while wondering how something so brutal could happen under his own roof. Theres no other word to describe it, other than horrendous. No living being, human, cat or otherwise, should have to go thru that, says Keplar. The roommates say they set the cat down to take a closer look at it after the incident. They say she ran off and they havent seen her. They say they want Schneider behind bars for a long time. Schneider is facing charges including domestic violence, assault, and cruelty to animals. Schneider is in jail on a $25,000 bond. Watch 10TV News and refresh 10TV for the latest. 10tv/content/stories/2013/10/22/Columbus_Cat_Injured.html
