COMMUNITY ALERT- RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES Within the past two days we have had several residential burglaries in different parts of the city. The method of operation of the burglars is to knock on the front door and if no one answers they will go to a back door/window and smash it to gain entry. The La Verne Police Department is asking the public to be aware of any suspicious activity and to call the police department immediately. In several of the recent burglaries the suspects were seen driving a possible black Mercedes car or dark colored Taurus. The driver was described as an older female African American and a younger female African American. Vehicles that appear to fit into the neighborhood are being driven to commit these burglaries. We ask people to be aware of vehicles or persons that are normally not in the area and to notify the police. These burglars may be watching residents as they leave for work, as some of the burglaries are early in the day up to midday. The location of these last burglaries was in the area just above Baseline Rd. and Wheeler and the south part of the city around White Ave. and Grove.
