COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: Parks and Recreation Board The City Council has just adopted an ordinance establishing a Parks and Recreation Board. This eagerly awaited new group will be responsible for developing and overseeing park facilities, and planning and conducting community activities. Five members will be appointed, according to the enabling state statute. This Board will meet monthly, and otherwise as needed, to plan and acquire park equipment; coordinate with the Forest Board to balance natural and recreational resources; manage budgets; solicit grants, bequests and gifts; plan and organize activities; and produce and maintain continuity files. Everybody has a ‘wish list’ of desirable events, activities, and facilities to enhance the Audubon Park experience – so this should be a real ‘spotlight’ group.
