COMP SCIENCE STUDENTS INTRODUCTION The Presidential Digital Talent Program (PDTP) is designed to build and entrench ICT capacity within the Kenyan Government to ensure ICT effectiveness and efficiency in service delivery. The PDTP initiative will focus on two key aspects: Leadership: developing CIO-type leaders in Government by entrenching them with ICT business principles for the management of ICT structures. (NB: will be executed through the ICT Authority.) Internship: training freshly qualified graduates through an internship program. The program will be implemented through Public and Private sector collaboration. DEADLINE: DECEMBER 24, 2014 INTRODUCTION Working with the private sector, the government will set up an Internship program for qualified ICT graduates. The government will identify potential sponsors and seek their support for the program. Interns in government will serve a number of purposes. These include providing training ground for potential employees in the future and will offer an affordable labour pool of freshly qualified (or to be qualified) individuals. INTERN QUALIFICATIONS In order to qualify for the Internship Program, you must: Have graduated with a BSc in : Electrical Engineering degree programs and their equivalents (e.g., computer engineering, electronic engineering or telecommunications engineering). Computer Science or equivalent degree programs (e.g. Computer science, applied computer science, Mathematics and computer science). Information Systems and Information Technology degree programs (e.g. Information systems, Information technology and Computer technology) The intern must have an ICT-related degree with core focus in one or more of the following areas: Business Applications and Business Process Improvement (including database management systems, web and systems administration) Networks and infrastructure ICT security Project management A reasonable understanding of all facets of ICT and its role in service delivery. In-depth understanding of ICT and its application in enhancing efficiency and effectiveness. Ability to perform a number of specialized and non-specialized tasks associated with improving service delivery through the use of ICT. Ability to critically assess and provide input towards improvement of business processes in support of improved service delivery. Have skills for innovative thinking Shows promise of leadership and management. Demonstrates a good understanding of the role of government and how government functions, especially with respect to service delivery. Has clear commitment to public service and improvement in service delivery. Appreciates the country’s cultural diversity as well as the diversity of individual skills, knowledge and occupation, all of which are necessary for effectiveness and efficiency. Personable and demonstrated desire to work in public service and passion for ICT. MANDATORY REQUIRMENTS Applicant must be a Kenyan National.
