COMPARE “WHAT IS WITH” AND “WHAT WAS” ONLY THEN CAN YOU - TopicsExpress

COMPARE “WHAT IS WITH” AND “WHAT WAS” ONLY THEN CAN YOU APPRECIATE PROGRESS! Even if you believe there is nothing you can do to make Nigeria great; atleast believe Nigeria can be great. Don’t let bitter persons sap away your faith in your nation. Disgruntled persons may tell you that our economy is not doing well, but the facts don’t support them. Do you know that only last year the Clinton foundation identifies Nigeria as one of the fastest growing economy in the world? On the 12th of October 2012, while addressing the Annual conservative party conference, David Cameron said; we have been hearing of China and India for years but it’s hard to believe what is happening in Brazil, in Indonesia and Nigeria. His undersecretary of state for Africa, Mr. Henry Bellingham said of “Nigeria has averaged growth of 8.9% which is really stunning” Nigeria is the world fourth fastest growing economy with solid growth in the next five years and beyond. Papers on 26th August 2012 reported that president Barrack Obama had declared Nigeria the “world’s” next economic success story. Some may disagree that poverty is reducing, but it’s not a lie How many times since the inception of President Goodluck Jonathan have you gone to the filling station to but fuel and spent atleast 2 hours there lets say in queue.. According to the World Bank, poverty in Nigeria reduced from 48-46%. I did not make this up; and the federal government has no control over these foreign individuals and institutions. Only this morning (25/02.2013) I woke up to the cheery news that Nigeria inflation had fell to 9% the 1st time it has hit single digit in seven years. Sometime last year, Leadership Newspaper run as its front headline the story “Exodus, The Movement of the British—Born Nigerians, Back to Nigeria. On the issue of the power sector situation in Nigeria, there are some whom may disagree that the power situation in Nigeria is improving but it is a fact. Nigeria in the last three years has increased from 2800MWs to 4500MWs; this statistics was at July last year. Obviously in a Nation of 170 million people, this is grossly insufficient; however, Nigerians ought to remember that between 1980 to 1999 no new investments were made in the power sector. Infact the Egbin power station that was commissioned in the very early 80s was the last power plant that was built in Nigeria before the lunch of the National Integrated power Project (NIPP) and the contract for that plant was awarded in the 70s. Imagine 20years abandon in a country with rapid population rate no investment were made in building new power plant. And Nigerians who remained silent all that time want to heap all the blame on the administration that is finally doing what ought to have done. What about the transformation of the Nigerian Railways, Nigerian Port Authority; I know we owe this Man a Bunch of Thanks and Celebrations. Nigeria was amalgamated in 1914, and JEGA have only been president for Four years and you heap all the blames on him. During the 2011 general election, somebody somewhere said; if President Goodluck Jonathan wins he will make Nigeria ungovernable; and from that time till now bomb blast in Nigeria has become the order of the day and ceases to stop. With all these efforts and good records of Jega lets assume there was no insurgency, don’t you think Nigeria would have even been better than this. It is natural and spiritual law that you appreciate increases in value and occurrence. For instance, if a child shows good manners and you celebrate him or her, the child is likely to display good manners more often not because he/she necessarily wants to be good mannered but because the child likes to be celebrated.
