COMPETITION IS GOOD, BUT MORE COMPETITION IS BETTER With our supermarket sector being dominated by the 2 supermarket giants, its always great to see new entrants into the market. Our small businesses are vital to promoting competition and so are other, experienced players such as ALDI and IGA. More competitors bring more competitive pricing and more choices for consumers. So competition between Coles and Woolworths is good, but more competition from small businesses, IGA and ALDI is better. The success of ALDI in Australia provides a great study in how new competitors can boost competition for the benefit of consumers.
