COMPETITION TIME! As we continue to develop the world of Holy Land: Resistance, to appear on the websites and even in the books themselves (in true universe building fashion), weve fleshed out nearly every aspect of life in Holy London and fundamentalist regime The Path... But with one glaring omission - and thats where you come in. So far, weve developed the Protectors of the Faith (Holy Londons ideological police force), the Iron-Clads (the metropolitan, armoured militia), the Heralds of The Path (the crusading army - deployed throughout Holy Britain), the Dreadnoughts (the decidedly low-tech naval force - keeping The Paths enemies out, and the people in) and the mysterious Nephilim of the Sword (thought mythic by many resistance fighters; akin to the Nazi SS)... But were missing an air force - and wed like YOU to name them. In return, the name you come up with will become canon - officially part of the mythos of Holy Land, to be used online and even in the books themselves - and well design a motif and image to encapsulate them that will be used on the websites, showcased on this very page and even used in Holy Land: Resistance itself. And well print a special original artwork, both sign it, and send it to you. So, were looking for a name that fits into the existing world of Holy Land and alongside the other military forces, draws on biblical/Christian imagery, reflects the low-tech nature of the air force (think, but not exclusively, Zeppelins, etc - modern fuels may not be available at all), can possibly be shortened or adapted in a pleasing way (for example, the Dreadnoughts are nicknamed the Heralds of the Waves), and sounds generally kinda cool. It could be something relatively obvious, historic or subtle - as long as it works and has real impact. All suggestions will be considered and nothing is off-bounds - if it appeals to you, it may to us and our wider readership too! And to tie in with the general theme of resistance in the novel, well run the competition from now until 5th November, the anniversary of the closest this country came to a religion-inspired coup. ;-) Any questions, let us know - and we cant wait to hear what you come up with. Ready, set - GO!
