What is an ecosystem?Ans-A system of interconnected habitats and their species of flora and fauna i.e. plants and animals respectively, usually defined by a specific geographical area or climate regime, example mountain, forest, lake etc. Qus2.How can we define Ecology?Ans. Ecology is the study of interactions of living organisms with one another and with their nonliving environment. Qus3.Can energy transfer be called insufficient? Why or why not?Ans.Energy transfer in ecosystems is insufficient as at each trophic level less and less amount of energy is transferred (i.e.-amount of energy reggresively changes ). Qus4. What is meant by environment?Ans. Environment is the sum of all external conditions affecting the life, development and survival of an organism in a system. Qus5. Give any important characteristic of an ecosystem.Ans .It is a major ecological unit containing biotic and abiotic components and its boundary is not fixed. Qus6. How can we classify ecosystems?Ans. Ecosystems may be classified as – natural, artificial, incomplete. Qus7. What is man’s role in ecosystems?Ans. Man manipulates ecosystems to suit his needs thereby disrupting the natural balance and gives rise to artificial ecosystems. Qus8. What are artificial ecosystems?Ans. Man made ecosystems are artificial ecosystems ,in the present day world there are hardly any areas on earth left without intervention of man. By the year 2050 if we progress at this rate no natural ecosystems will exist on earth. Example of artificial ecosystem cropland, garden, aquarium etc.
