CONGRATULATIONS FRACK FIGHTERS! Well done! Keep being active! A delegation of about 30 people, including seven state representatives, met at the state capital on Wednesday to present Governor Maggie Hassan with a petition carrying nearly 2,000 signatures asking that federal lawmakers take steps to slow down the process for approval of a natural gas pipeline that would cut across Southern New Hampshire. Susan Emerson, a state representative from Rindge who represents Rindge and Fitzwilliam, organized the delegation. “My constituents are great in number who are against it,” said Emerson, who has publicly opposed the pipeline. “All we’re asking for is time. We’re not asking for the moon.” Emerson referenced the fact that the pipeline route was only changed to include New Hampshire recently, in a project that has been in discussion for more than a year. Among the representatives presenting the petition were Rep. James Parison (R-New Ipswich), Frank Edelblut (R-Wilton), as well as Rep. Jim McConnell, Rep. Ben Tilton and Rep. Tim Horrigan. Betty Anders, a resident of Rindge, was among the delegation that was at the capital on Wednesday, and said that she thinks that the towns along the route, which include Rindge, Mason, Greenville and New Ipswich, need more time to inform their residents about the possibility of a natural gas pipeline coming through their towns and the ramifications therein.
