CONSIDER THIS FIRST! As your plan to relocate abroad thickens I seriously need you to consider the issue I am about to raise here before your departure, and may be your own is not about relocating abroad, it may be changing your job, changing your location or just an ambition to “move ahead” in life. All these are not naturally a problem but I still require that you consider the issues am about to raise here. Sometimes ago, a man with his wife and two children decided to relocate abroad because of a problem that arose in their home country, they were rich enough to afford the cost of relocating their family into a foreign land and so they did! They left their families behind and went to make new friends in a foreign land. They got new house and every other luxuries of life; they must have thought within themselves that at last they have escaped the pain, famine and poverty of their native land. After some years in the foreign land, the father of the house died and also the two sons died in succession, though married in the foreign land but with no child, what an agony! At this juncture the mother decided to return home to the same people they left thinking that famine would wipe them out but lo and behold, they survived it and they were on ground to welcome the woman who had returned home; hear the testimony of this woman And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me. I went out full and the LORD hath brought me home again empty: why then call ye me Naomi, seeing the LORD hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me? Ruth 1:20-21 The family I just wrote about was the family of Mr and Mrs Elimelech, Ephrathites of Bethlehemjudah! (Ruth 1:1-22). Here is a sad story of a man who relocated for the greener pasture only to be consumed by the land into which he relocated. There are many stories of people, family and nations relocating in the scripture which implies that relocating might be needed at one point or the other in the life of a man so relocating is not a sin! But here lies the issue, as you are preparing to relocate abroad or change your job may I ask you this question, who is leading you? Mr. Elimelech was full but he still left for abroad because of famine but only the wife returned empty, Isaac nearly made the same mistake of leaving his land of fulfilment because of famine but for his obedience to God’s instruction And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father. Gen 26:2-3. The blessing of the Lord is only guaranteed when you abide in the location HE tells you. The rate at which Christians flee at the sight of “famine” in this generation is worrisome, people compromise and change standard when there is “famine” to contend with in their lives. They are quick to look for alternatives and any means ungodly to satisfy the hunger and needs of the moment. At the sight of “famine”, they fall for everything and forget all that they have ever learnt at the feet of Jesus. They run from pole to post seeking helps in mortal men. Your own famine could be joblessness, childlessness, sickness, poverty, failed business, failed marriage, troubled home and the likes. Believers of this generation are now very fast to change their locations, their belief, their conviction, their God’s ordained standards and even their faith all in a bit to find immediate solution to the “famine” in their lives without any input from God. Some have left their places of greatness for a place far below God’s expectations for their lives, some have settled for the less when God is saying come up here. Let me tell you today, your help is never from abroad but from above! If God does not help a man, no man can help him; your greatness is only guarantee in the place of your destiny. Except you allow God to take the lead you are bound to go astray. If God wants you abroad staying at home will lead you to frustration and if God wants you at home, staying abroad will amount to nothing but frustration. If God chooses not to change your job, status or financial state for now, no matter whom you know it will not just work out, if God does not build (you) the house, they that try to build you will only labour in vain Ps 127:1. What is the way out here? Just allow God to lead you, do not allow situations around you to lead you rather submit yourself to the Lord and be led of the Lord. Whether home or abroad, in famine or plenteous, in sickness or in health you are destined for greatness ONLY if you will allow God to take the lead. Do not let what God can control (famine, poverty, sickness, childlessness etc) control your life rather allow God who can control all situations to have the control over your life. Running abroad and around is never the solution to your life challenges but running to JESUS, compromise will not help you out of your present challenges but consistency in Christ Jesus will do, fear will only destroy you but faith in God will make you triumph. Remember this always: Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. Pro 3:5-8 It is well with you.
