Contentment, how significant it is in the human lives? Man in his innermost nature, in his long journey is searching for a perfect momentum in his life. There are questions being raised with his endeavors. It seems that some areas of his life are not in order. His perspective of life is chaos. Sometimes, he is blaming the Creator for rough times he is undergoing. “Why I can’t afford to be happy? Why I am lying on the bed of worries?” asked him self. Even if he had achieved his aspirations and dreams, yet he’s not satisfied. Money, what this figure can really do to his life? Materials, how far these things might penetrate or soak him? Will he be satisfied with simple things or be slaved continually with materialism forever? He is seeking to know the key to this never-ending search. Thus, contentment must play a major role in this search for it is a fact of life. Contentment is a state of satisfaction, making just enough to live on. Indeed, to have contentment is to desist or withdraw him self from dipping into the pot of extravagance. It is the heart’s whisper and embrace of gratitude for what he has, rather than looking for something he has not. In man’s life, contentment is the answer to his every longing. Man is unconsciously seeking for this contentment but he hardly finds it, or even suffering for not searching for it. Similarly, discontentment as paralleled with incurable misery in man’s heart is suddenly pushing himself silently towards his own grave; such is kissing Satan’s deceitful lies or drinking his bait of temporary satisfactions. But if only man’s heart contains this contentment, he will be free from any struggles. He will be delivered from the bondages of envy, dissatisfaction and frustration. Contentment gets rid man of his bottomless cravings for material things and other external factors. Being drunk with the vipers of this materialistic world is as good as being clothed with the deceiving schemes of the god of this world. It is called greediness or idolatry that may even lead to family ruins, social factions or national tragedies. “Whoever loves money never has enough money. Whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. For a man may do his work with wisdom, knowledge and skill and then he must leave all he owns to someone who has not worked for it. All his days, he eats in darkness, with great frustrations, afflictions and anger. All his days, his work is pain and grief, even at night his mind does not rest. What does a man get for all the toil and anxious striving with which he labors under the sun? The abundance of a rich man permits him no sleep but the sleep of a laborer is sweet whether he eats little or much. Thereby, there is nothing better for a man than to be happy and do good while he lives. It is good and proper for a man to eat and drink, and to find satisfaction in his toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given him. There is nothing better for a man than to enjoy his work, because this is his lot. He must enjoy life with his spouse whom he love and eat food with gladness for it is now that the Creator favors what he do.” (Book of Ecclesiastes 5:10; 2:21; 5:17; 2: 23, 22; 5:12; 3:12; 5:18;3:22 ) “Again, people who want to get rich fall into temptation and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. For we brought nothing into this world and we can take nothing out of it. But godliness with contentment is great gain. If we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.” (1Timothy 6:9-10; 6:7,6,8) “If you find honey, eat just enough, too much of it and you will vomit. Man does not live by bread alone, but on every word that comes out of the mouth of God. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet loose or forfeit his very soul? Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world – the cravings of a sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does - comes not from the Father but from the world.” (Book of Prov.25: 16; Matthew 4:4; Isaiah 55:2; Matthew 6:19; Luke 9:25; I John 2:15-16) I tell you my friend, if you’re not satisfied, you will never have any satisfactions at all. Hence to worship the golden calf or to value money more than anything else is bridging yourself to a flirt of death, making your life a terribly mess and making yourself your own worst enemy. Don’t let yourself be buried with all filthy things in this world but pursuit contentment. Find it in your heart, it is just there. For if there’s contentment, there is peace; if there’s contentment, there is happiness. And this contentment is found through Only One Most Powerful Name above all names – JESUS CHRIST, the Only SON of the CREATOR who had shed his blood for our sins on the CROSS OF CALVARY. My friend, as you accept HIM as your personal Savior and Master, He will give you the true contentment you’re looking for in your life. What more? Your name will be written in the Book of Life and you will be sure that you will go to Heaven 100% when you die because there’s no other way to get to Heaven, only thru Him as it says in the Book of ACTS 4:12 “ Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” But since our spirit had been separated away from God for long time because of our sins, we must ask forgiveness so that He may hear our prayers. In the Book of Isaiah 59:1&2 says” Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor His ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.” In the Book of Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” In Romans 6:23 says, “ For the wages of SIN is Death, but the gift of God is Eternal Life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” So we must repent for our sins and ask forgiveness from Him. Book of 1 John 1:9 says,” If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”. In John 3:16 says,” For God so love the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” In the Book of Romans 10:9 says,” That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” ‘In John14: 6 Jesus says, “ I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” In John 14:2 says,” In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you, I go to prepare a place for you.” In the Book of Revelation 3:20 Jesus Him self said, “ Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” In the Book of Psalm 95:7 “ Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts…” My friend, don’t you think God is knocking at your heart for long time? Surrender now your life to JESUS CHRIST and accept HIM. There’s no other way. Tomorrow, it might be too late, because you will never know what will happen next. After accepting JESUS CHRIST as your Lord and Saviour, I’m encouraging you to read the Bible everyday and inviting you to attend Full Gospel, Non- sectarian church of your choice so that you will know and grow more in God’s awesome grace. Joshua 1:8 and Romans 10: 17 says,” Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Consequently, faith cometh from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ ” God bless you my friend and may you feel His love forever!
