COOPERS TROOPERS UPDATE thursday, 11/13 11:43AM 11/13/14 Hello everyone, Sorry it has taken a while for me to update everyone, things have been a little crazy since we came home. Coop is finally starting to adjust and seems to be comfortable in his new surroundings. The first week he seemed worried and scared. Looking around at his new room and the new faces. We have only called the U of I hospital once, which from what we have been told, is very good. Coop is starting to trust his nurses and they are getting to know him. So thankful I have been able to be home to try to help this transition go smoothly. Coop did have a number of spells in the first week, but we think those were mostly because of him being overwhelmed and uncertain of his surroundings, also he is trying to cut more teeth, so that makes him uncomfortable and fussy. He has handled things pretty well considering that his whole world changed on 11/5. We know that he will still probably have spells, but if we can spread them out and not have them daily or multiple times a day, that would be ideal! Friday we had our first outing to a Doc appointment in Waterloo for Coop and Max. We also had a nurse with us. Thank goodness we have a mini van to haul everyone and everything needed for an outing! Coop loved the outing, he loves being social and seeing new places and new things. He doesnt love being in his room all of the time, which I dont blame him. He was stuck in a room for the first 9 months of his life. After a little rearranging we have made our living room more family friendly with a pack and play and toys. We have started bringing him into the living room shortly after he wakes up in the morning and we pretty much stay in the living room all day. More windows and light, plus it feels more like we can be like family instead of Coop being separated in his room. I think the nurses like it better too. Max, Chris and I were so happy to spend our first weekend home since the boys were born. We were so blessed to have a room at Helen Rossi House in the hospital, but dont miss it. All in all I think things have gone fairly smoothly with just a few bumps in the road. We are finally starting to find our new normal. Looking forward to the benefit Saturday. The silent auction is going to be huge. We are amazed by so many peoples generosity. Thank you so much for your continued support and prayers. I have attached a picture of our first week at home.
