COP Elections Commission Announcement: Elections for Political Leader on Sunday 29 June PORT-OF-SPAIN – Congress of the People (COP) Elections Commission Chairman, Mr. Nizam Mohammed, today announced the date for the party’s next Political Leader Election for the 2014-2017 term. Election Day will be Sunday 29 June, 2014. Voting will take place at polling stations across the country in the party’s second election of a Political Leader since its entry into government in the May 2010 General Elections. Nomination Day will be Friday June 6, 2014. The Elections Commission Chairman also reminded that the COP from its inception has always had a system of one man, one vote for the election of its Political Leader. Mr. Mohammed also reminded that the COP was the first political party to introduce debates among the candidates for leadership and in 2014 these debates will continue.
