The Bible was left on the shelf without care, For no one thought Jesus tonight would come there The children were dressing to crawl into bed, Not once ever kneeling or bowing their head My daughter in the rocking chair with food on her lap, Was watching the Late Show as I took a nap When out of the east there rose such a clatter, I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter Away to the window I flew like a flash, I tore open the shutters and lifted the sash When what to my wondering eyes should appear, But Angels proclaiming that Jesus was here The light of His face made me cover my head, It was Jesus coming just like the Bible had said And though I possess worldly wealth and success, I cried when I saw Him, cause this worlds in a mess The Book of Life he held in his hand, If my name was not there would he understand? He spoke not a word as he searched for my name, I’d had had lots of time since the first time he came The people whose names had been written with love, He wanted to take to his Father above With those who were ready He rose without sound, While all of the others were left standing round I fell to my knees but it was too late, Had I waited too long, Had I, and thus sealed my fate? I stood and I cried as He rose out of sight, Oh, if only Id known that this was the night For in the words of the Bible the message is clear, The coming of Jesus is again drawing near Theres only one life and when comes the last call, Well find out that the Bible was true after all I woke from my nap with a joyous scream, Thank God, I said, this was only a dream After settling down, and fully awaking, I was glad that my choice I still had time to be making My perspective of Christmas will change this season, Since I re-discovered that Jesus was Gods special reason Jesus came to provide hope for all Gods creation, And still graciously provides a choice for each generation The Passion of the Christ, in cinemas we did see, Another chance to come to him, on bended knee So lets put Jesus back into Christmas this year, To make sure future generations can once more have cheer.
