CORRUPTION AND UNDER-DEVELOPMENT IN EGI KINGDOM. Good-morning - TopicsExpress

CORRUPTION AND UNDER-DEVELOPMENT IN EGI KINGDOM. Good-morning and Happy Weekend to my friends, family and well-wishers. I want to use the medium to express a heartfelt issue which bothers on the Egi people of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA of Rivers state. On my previous post: Egi Land: A Kingdom of selfish, self-serving, self-appointed, visionless leaders and jinxed followers, I used it to mention some of the numerous ills found in Our dear land and I was able to have various positive feedbacks from concerned Egi and non-Egi people. I will not fail to mention here that I also had some blind critics who have decided to remain jinxed by their visionless leaders. Be it as it may, as an ardent believer in the prospect and progress the Egi land I shall not fail to dispense my part in ensuring that Egi people get more abreast to the fact that they deserve better. It is no gainsay to mention here that Total E&P Nig. Ltd. has stayed peacefully in our land in their exploration business with the aim of helping to our kingdom. It is also without sympathy that I would state here that over seventy percent (70%) of Egi people and their economy depends on the activities of Total E&P Nig. Ltd. Year in year out, there are rumours and facts emanating of multi millions Naira even amounting to billions of Naira budget and given out to various leaders of Egi land for developmental projects. Several billions have been spent already. But when I tore around the various communities in Egi I certainly do not any of such projects commensurate to the level of money released by TOTAL. At times I begin to ask: is it that our leaders dont know the projects to execute which will impact on the lives of the people or is it that TOTAL have been telling Egi people lies all these while? - your guess is as good as mine. It is also a known fact here that over ninety-five percent (95%) of people living in Egi rely on employments generated from the activities of TOTAL for employment. In as much as I also believe that TOTAL has not done up to Seventy Percent (70%) of what they ought to do for our people, I also hold the view that Our leaders have not done upto Ten Percent (10%) of what they ought to do with the huge sum of money at their disposal. My questions are these: 1. How many factories have been built from the resources available to our leaders? 2. How much does it take to build a common plastic factory which can employ at least 100 persons from Egi? 3. How much does it take to build blown film factory? I learnt ours was built at almost a billion Naira? Hahahaha. 4. Cant the over two hundred million Naira ( over 200,000,000) spent on erecting the WELCOME TO EGI CITY be used for a valuable economic venture that can boost our economy? This project infuriates me each time am travelling to Omoku or Port Harcourt because it is only in our leaders that I see that a city can exist without facilities such as: 1. Good schools (both technical and tertiary institutions); 2. Banks; 3. Factories which can aid employment; 4. Adequate waste disposal system; 5. Adequate drainage system; etc. They (Our leaders) wouldnt want to develop our land because they always want to have loyalist who they would use for their political thuggery, blockades at TOTAL and for many other restive activities which will have no positive benefits on the youths. They want to keep the people so that they can always use them (an idle man is the devils workshop). Hence, I begin to wonder if the EFCC is only there for political witch hunting or they cover all aspects of Nigeria economy. But even if EFCC cant help us, can we help ourselves? Note that: ALMOST EVERY THING we are enjoying today (the water, roads, electricity) are past glories we got our previous leaders. 2015 is fast approaching, they will still come and speak to us again and again. Watch and See. Its repugnant, deceptive, despicable and frustrating that people still believe in the people who DONT LOVE THEM. How can we move forward from this backwardness??? Your suggestions are as good as mine..
