COSIGNED: Rabbi Yakov Horowitzs Plea to Family Members of Abuse Victims One of the most searing moments at Joey DiAngello/Yoeli Deitchs gravesite service on Sunday was when a middle-aged heimish person spoke. He softly stated that his son was abused many years ago and said,Im here because I am terrified that I might be here one day burying my own son. He said that his family is following the advice they have been getting from professionals [to give their son space and unconditional love/support] even though, it is very, very difficult for us to do that. My message to parents, siblings and loved ones of abuse victims is that you please, please listen to the sage advice of that father and support your children in every way possible. We are burying far to many of our kids who couldnt deal with the pain and confusion of their childhood abuse/trauma -- and for many of them, the support they get from you could be the difference between life and death for them. Literally. To victims of abuse; please reach out for help if your pain is too much to bear.
