CPSB Announces New Appointments to CFO, CAO Positions The Calcasieu Parish School Board (CPSB) is happy to announce the appointments of Wilfred Bourne and Tommy Campbell to the positions of chief financial officer and chief academic officer, respectively. Newly appointed Chief Academic Officer Tommy Campbell comes to Calcasieu Parish from his position with the Jefferson Davis School Board (JDSB) as the supervisor of curriculum and instruction. Since 1990, Campbell’s highly-regarded reputation in education was developed through his experiences as a JDSB Board member, middle school teacher, assistant principal and principal. He was named the 2003 Louisiana State Teacher of the Year. Campbell’s responsibilities as the supervisor of curriculum and instruction included the following areas: math K-12, LEAP/EOC remediation and pupil progression among other fields. A Southwest Louisiana native, he received his graduate and undergraduate degrees from McNeese State University. Wilfred Bourne will assume the role of CPSB chief financial officer after nearly 20 years with Allen Parish School Board (APSB) in a similar capacity. His accomplished professional background includes 10 years of governmental finance duties for agencies in Southwest Louisiana, and state and national affiliations with certified public accountant organizations. During his tenure as the director of finance for APSB, Bourne demonstrated a consistent record of positive financial growth with 16 capital improvement projects totaling more than $33 million. He was instrumental in the growth of the district’s general fund balance from zero to 40 percent of annual revenues. Bourne is also a graduate of McNeese and a product of Iowa High School. “The quality pool of candidates for both positions allowed us to think through several different options and ultimately select the most qualified individuals to match our district’s needs,” said Karl Bruchhaus, CPSB superintendent of schools. “I’m extremely pleased to complete our leadership team with Wilfred and Tommy as we can continue to focus on our primary concern; our students and teachers.”
