(CPV) – On July 22, the National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC) in collaboration with the Command of Navy Zone IV and the Khanh Hoa provincial Department of Labor, War-invalids and Social Affairs, presented 175 scholarships “Together with you to school“, each worth VND3 million, to disadvantaged children in the area. The children, of which 110 are poor with good academic results, and the other 65 being children of officials and soldiers currently on duty protecting national sovereignty over sea and islands, were directy presented the scholarships by Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan on behalf of the NFVC. Photo: Thanh Ngan The scholarship program commenced in September 2012, and so far, awards (worth a total of VND19 billion) have been presented 21 times in 48 provinces and cities, actively assisting and encouraging children with difficulties, those living in remote areas, poor families and orphaned children. In order to support officials and soldiers from the Vietnam Coast Guard Forces, the NVFC has launched a program to assist the children of officials and soldiers who are on duty protecting national sovereignty over the sea and islands, beginning in Da Nang city (30 scholarships) and onto Khanh Hoa province (65 scholarships). As planned, on July 27, Politburo member and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Nguyen Thien Nhan, representatives from NVFC and Command of Navy Zone V will visit and present 13 scholarships (VND3 million each) and 100 gifts (VND500,000 each) to needy kids in the island district of Phu Quoc in the southern province of Kien Giang. This year, the fund set a target of mobilizing around VND1.5 billion from organizations, enterprises, individuals and golden hearts to assist 186 kids of officials and soldiers who are on duty protecting national sovereignty by carrying out surgeries for children with congenital heart defects, challenged mobility, deadly diseases, providing long-term sponsorship and/or direct support…/.
