CRAFT: SUBMISSION COMPLETED I finished my submission forms, 9000 word manuscript and Statement of Plans required for the Wallace Stegman Fellowship being offered at Stanford. Today was the last day to submit. No, I didnt procrastinate. I only discovered it two weeks ago and rushed to put something together to submit. I am torn between being super nervous about submitting for a fellowship at STANFORD and exhausted due to the effort of completing the paperwork for the Fellowship. Now, comes the waiting. I wont know anything until April 1, 2015. There are only ten seats available for this literature scholarship and there will be 1,800 - 2,500 submissions, so the odds are LONG. If I pull off this longshot, I will be participating in a year long program (and perhaps a second year as a writer-in-residence) going to weekly reading groups, workshops and writers training. It also has a $26,000 annual stipend for the first year. The expectation is you will be writing full time and trying to complete a project with the support of the Fellowship. However it is a literature fellowship, not a genre fiction one. But I studied literature back in college (right after the extinction of the dinosaurs) so I should be at least able to hold my own in conversation. Now I am going to go and collapse in a quivering heap and prepare for my workday tomorrow. If I get up and feel decent, I may post something here to help do my part to keep the group interesting.
