CRAZY MORNING....I came over the PI Bridge and car started shaking - TopicsExpress

CRAZY MORNING....I came over the PI Bridge and car started shaking uncontrollably! Freaked me out - pulled off to the side of the road only to find out that my tire had burst...It was not the safest place to pull off but I knew I was in trouble. Started problem solving and just then a huge pick up truck pulled up behind me. A man got out and offered to help. He said he had his windows down and heard the noise my car was making and then spelled the burning rubber. He drove past me, turned around and came back, making a very dangerous U-turn so that he could position himself behind my van. YIKES! I had no idea who he was, but he explained that he turned around when he saw I was alone and wanted to offer assistance. It was all a little uncomfortable but I appreciated his offer. I called Matt to tell him what was going on hoping he could come and help. He could not - a sinking feeling. I explained to the gentleman that my husband was with Beaufort City Police and he immediately said he had many good friends who were officers. The first name out of his mouth was Officer Chris Cushman (Charlotte Cushman) He said he went to Church with Chris and his family. Gosh - the power of a name!! Chris and Charlotte - Thats all I needed to know. The Cushmans - good, kind, loving Christian family -with such character and integrity....I knew I was in good hands. There was much more conversation but suffice it to say I learned his name - Dale Stewart; learned he retired from the Marine Corps; had 5 kids; loves his family and the beach and lots more...It was also decided that I would call AAA to get them to come and repair the tire. Dale offered to take me to work -just a mile or two down the road. I took him up on that offer. SO KIND. I promised him I would pass along his kindness. (Now I need to find him and share some cookies or other yummy thank you!! Please help me contact him, Charlotte!) After getting to school, dilemma 2: I had to get back to the car to let the AAA man in to get the spare tire. Thanks to a kind colleague Jaci Matz who let me borrow her car for about 10 min so I could get that solved. AAA man (Cory) was AWESOME. Once he was done, I had to get back to school and then had Dilemma 3 - how to get my van back to school? I was back to class discussing with a friend Fari Lopez whos husband had offered to help on my lunch break when I got a text from another friend, Patty Koon Cline who said, Did I just pass your car on the side of the road near the PI Bridge? YEP - that was me. She asked if I needed anything and I said I DID! I needed ANOTHER ride back to the site to pick up the van. She came and helped me with a smile on her face!! LOVE YA PATTY!!! After school I went and bought a new tire - which meant I missed my exercise class AGAIN FOR THE 3RD STRAIGHT DAY IN A ROW!!! Ugggg Anyway...Im safe :) , grateful for so many friends
