CROSS RIVER: WHAT THEN IS OUR HOPE??? These, I think often: • What is our hope and what’s the future of our youth? • How many Cross River youth can afford a night in Obudu Cattle Resort? • How many indigenous Cross River youth can afford a space at Tinapa? • Our elders are selling our lands to strangers and visitors with little consideration for the youth. Why? • The State has no functional school-oh not primary nor secondary yet she prioritize carnival? • The state media corporations do no follow-up report on the ongoing teachers’ strike; their focus is on carnival theme. Oh God, what a paradox. • Indeed the elders are deceived; the youth are deprived; the children are denied their right. What then is our hope? • Are these the signs of future doom? In such a time as this, do I remember Pastor Joseph Bassey. Oh where is the then Pastor Josef Bassey? The eloquent media Pastor who prayed the state into her peace and prosperity. Was it his prayers, or was it the proficiency and efficiency of Mr. Donald Duke? Fellow Cross Riverians, we must not fold our hands and watch our pending doom. We must rise-though not violently but soberly in PRAYERS AND FASTING. Yes, by so doing God shall “cut of all the witchcraft from our land” (Micah 5:12-13). We must rise as Daniel did (Daniel 9:20) and pray for our leaders, as well as our land. This we must do without hesitation. This we must do now. It is not the question of “who shall redeem us?” No. It isn’t the issue of “who will lead us?” Arise and lead yourself if you are not ready to be a slave in the soon coming future. Arise, for your younger ones’ sake. Arise for your children’s sake. Running out of the state isn’t the solution because you will surely live to fight another day. ARISE CROSS RIVER YOUTH!!! See you at the other side!!!
