CROWDSOURCING LOVE Im really not trying to come home every evening to check mail and facebook in hopes that Ill start balling like a baby. But after seeing two more #Movember donations from friends who saw my post this morning (thank you so much, Marina Streznewski and John Coudriet) but then seeing myself tagged in a message from the king of the art of asking, Ian Jopson, I watched this video. To many, Amanda Palmers message might not resonate, but listening to her brought me to tears. She gets it. Not just about money and the salvation of the music industry ... but about life. I hope youll take the time to watch her TED Talk (and a hat tip to my old friend Tom Rielly who puts those talks on) but think about how her life lessons apply to the truth of your own life. And when youre finished, I want you to do me another favor. I want you to tag me in a post where youre humbly asking the universe for something noble. And as God is my witness, if I cant be there for you -- because of space or time -- Ill share you post with my list and see if anyone Im connected to can. A lot of people dis social media. Its ruining human interaction, they say. But, as Amanda points out, theyre wrong. Its amplifying human interaction. You just have to know how to ask. Last note. Thank you for being my friend.
