CYCLING CAN THO MEKONG DELTA VIETNAM. Todays cycling had us departing the Victoria hotel, cycling through the city and then along side the Mekong. The bustle of the city was soon left behind as gradually the pace of life slowed down as we cycled through villages and passed by small timber mills, flower mills and fish sauce factories on the banks of the river. The riverside town of Phong Dien with its mini floating market was an ideal place for a drink and rest break. We then left the Mekong and followed the shaded cement pathways along the banks of the back waters teaming with people going about their laid back but busy lives. Tending to their fruit farms, fishing and washing their clothes in the waters of the Mekong Delta. We crossed dozens of little bridges and passed by small local markets, and at least a dozen weddings, before we gradually left the somewhat serene pace of the backwaters behind us as we rode back to bustling Can Tho . Our ride taking three hours and 45 Klms.
