Cabinet Secretary in charge of Interior Joseph Ole Lenku says the huge smoke billowing from the Westtgate Mall was as a result of a diversionary fire started by the attackers from inside the Nakumatt supermarket inside the mall. Kenyan forces are working to put out the blaze but the building remains solid. He says Kenyan forces have managed to kill two of the attackers in an assault this morning. He says more hostages have been evacuated but few remain in captivity. Ole Lenku says that the official death toll currently stands at 62.
