Cabinet stretches age bar to 38 IMPHAL, Mar 3: Upper age limit for candidates appearing in recruitment exams conducted by the State Government has been raised to 38 for General, 41 for OBC and 43 for ST/SC. A decision to this effect was adopted during a Cabinet meeting held this evening with Chief Minister O Ibobi in the chair. Briefing media persons after the meeting, Government spokesman and Education Minister M Okendro stated that the State Cabinet decided to relax the upper age bar in view of the large number of educated, unemployed people seeking employment in the State. Age limits for candidates appearing in recruitment exams conducted the State Government were 30 for general, 33 for OBC and 35 for ST/SC. These age bars were extended to 35, 38 and 41 respectively in public interested so as to enable the educated, employed could make a one-time attempt at recruitment exams, Okendro said. But this measure could not reduce the problem of unemployment. Taking serious of the existing situation, the Cabinet meet held today decided to further relax the age bar. In line with the Government of India’s new policy of vocationalisation of education, 39 vocational schools would be set up in the State in 2014-15. For these vocational posts, 143 different posts would be created. The posts and numbers short- listed for creation are 9 posts of Vocation Coordinator, 78 posts for Vocational Teachers (IT-39, Instructor-Security 12, Retail-6, Health-9, Tourism-4, Beauty-8) and 56 posts of Lab Assistant.
