A web of deceit had been spun around him. Tendrils accumulating - TopicsExpress

A web of deceit had been spun around him. Tendrils accumulating and dripping malice, hiding was impossible, there was no wall impenetrable enough to prevent further carving of his innards. “….” Lanky limbs were strewn across sharp kneecaps, a distraught face buried between pillars of porcelain. There were nowhere left for these numb limbs to carry him; every corner he turned was littered with the sneering faces of corruption. Which dank meandering alley possessed the spark he’d need to rekindle these dissipating flames of hope? None of them, in truth all optimism he had once possessed had been extinguished by those he’d once assumed would nurture it. His mother, a woman of little truth, whose compassionate hues of emerald concealed a manipulative and inconsiderate feline who would sink her claws into any daft enough to throw her a lavish gem or two. His father was no better, a man whose nonchalant mask hid a felon. One who would without hesitance throw his kin to the slaughter in order to benefit… They were people he wasn’t proud of, monsters wearing the stretched flesh of humans, repulsive creatures. Friends, what friends? Companions that seek only to benefit themselves were all that he saw within those interweaving threads. In the end, he was left to suffer in isolation, without any whose honey-coated words he could bring himself to believe. A single question however, still lingered within that doubtful subconscious and as he curled into himself he came to a bitter realization. Was he any less deceitful then the ones he so effortless labelled as wrong-doers? Weightless pastel limbs curled around a lifeless corpse as it sank deeper into the obsidian seas of despair, lifeless eyes gazing longingly at the dancing streams of colour above. If he’d believed in their lies could he possibly have remained as part of their world? It was a theory atleast and as murky tendrils began to consume him he found himself for a moment wishing he had but it was in human nature to put one before another. There was no truth. Only lies.
