Cafe Pitini, soi Bukhao. I dont much enjoy doing bad reviews... the chef might have been off sick, the other dishes on offer might have been great for all I know... and it was only 149 baht, after all. But all I can do is tell it as I found it on the day. Anyway it was the Thursday special, not some obscure dish from the menu, so theres really no excuse. Pork chop with veg. The roast potatoes were fine. The other veg? Inedible. The knife just wouldnt penetrate the cauli, green beans and sweet corn. Im not exaggerating - it wasnt the sharpest of knives, but after a few attempts I was afraid any more pressure and a piece of cauli would end up flying across the tables and taking out someones eye. Or worse still - I was sitting outside - knock someone driving past off his bike and I would be done for manslaughter... Anyway, you get the picture. The Yorkshire pud? Tough, chewy, tasteless. Only had one mouthful. The pork chop? Looked fine on the outside... but - and this happens all too often in Pattaya either when they cook pork from very cold, or too quickly - near the bone it was red, almost bloody. Not good, with pork. Then again... it really doesnt come much cheaper in Pattaya than 149 baht for this dish.
