Here is a great posting by one of our pages friends.--- Rogers Tone Zone December 21 at 9:47pm After seeing a Steve Wariner Op-Ed on Dottie West being elected into the Country Music Hall of Fame ( and I think she should be elected also) he mentioned Don Rich. I think Don Rich should be in the CMA Hall of Fame. In addition to his ground breaking Telecaster playing (those guitar tracks are as fresh and exciting as ever years later) exquisite Fiddling, songwriting and last but not least harmony singing, Dangerous Don is a no brainer. I had a chance to get to know him as a kid and later to open for Don and The Buckaroos at Jamboree USA. There was never a more consummate professional than Don and a sweetheart of a guy. He and the Buckaroos could walk out on stage and open with Up On Cripple Creek, or The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down and sell it it to a predominately country audience. I really believe they could do that because the audience truly loved Don. All he had to do was smile, start playing and he owned the audience. I recall Don walking onstage to our staff band and saying, you guys are playing your infernal Butts off. You have no idea how encouraging that was to a young bunch of pickers. I saw an interview with Paul Franklin where he mentioned that Don and the Buckaroos were a rock band. Thats the kind of energy they brought to the table. Lets get something going here, he truly deserves this.
