Below are photos from what a county-wide planning exercise looks like, taken from Riverside County, California. Are you writing and tweeting and talking about ShakeOut in your community? The ShakeOut model has served as an inspiration for the earthquake table top exercise held by SW Riverside County. In 2008 they used the San Andreas Scenario and then they were motivated to use a local scenario for this years exercise. Walking from table to table the discussion is about the scenario earthquake but the ShakeOut is mentioned over and over. For example the City of Temecula is planning a ShakeOut drill on 10/16 at City Hall. On 10/18 the City of Lake Elsinore is hosting a preparedness event at Lake Elsinore Diamond Stadium (home of the minor league baseball team The LE Storm). It is obvious from the discussions at the tables that they are drawing on their experience with doing the ShakeOut drills from year to year.
