Call for #Artists: 2013 NATIONAL JURIED ART EXHIBITION: BLACK HERITAGE THROUGH VISUAL RHYTHMS The National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center (NAAMCC)in Wilberforce, OH and the African American Visual Artists Guild (AAVAG) presents their first annual National Art Exhibit for Artists of African descent. Prominent artists from across the United States submit their work to the Juried Art Exhibition in the categories below. Participants are recognized at the Artists’ Reception and Awards Ceremony, a gathering that celebrates the diversity of African descendants in the visual arts. Exhibition Dates: November 1, 2013 - January 31, 2014. Categories: Photography * Textiles * Drawing * Ceramics * Sculpture * Paintings * Mixed Media Sculpture cannot weigh over 40 pounds, two-dimensional artwork cannot be wider than 7 feet (84 inches). Awards: All art entries are reviewed by a panel of Judges who will choose the winning entries: Best of Show: $3,000.00 1st Place 2 Dimensional: $1,000.00 2nd Place 2 Dimensional: $500.00 1st Place 3 Dimensional: $1,000.00 2nd Place 3 Dimensional: $500.00 Fees and Deadline: A non-refundable Entry Fee of $60.00 for up to 3 entries, payable to the National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center or NAAMCC, by money order or cashiers check only, must accompany the entry form and images. If you want your CD returned you must enclose a self addressed stamped envelope. Deadline for receipt of entry package is August 1n American Visual Artists Guild (AAVAG) presents their first annual National Art Exhibit for Artists of African descent. Jurors: Carol White - Lead Juror, Education Department, Indianapolis Museum of Art. Floyd Thomas, Jr., Ph. D. - Curator Emeritus, NAAMCC. James Pate - Award winning Artist. Calendar: August 31, 2013: Deadline for receipt of entry cards, JPEGs and fees September 13 : Jury notices mailed to artists of accepted work. October 5: Accepted artwork delivered to the museum. November 1: Exhibit opens. November 2: Artists’ Reception and Awards Ceremony. January 31, 2014: Final day of exhibition. February 1, 2: Deadline for pick up of artwork.
