PERFORMANCE SECONDMENT CALL OUT – OCT 2014 Opera Australia | Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour In 2015, for the fourth year, Opera Australia will deliver Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour, presenting Verdi’s Aida1. From 27 March to 26 April, Fleet Steps at Mrs Macquaries Point will be transformed into a temporary outdoor opera house, for an event which continues to attract new opera audiences to a unique opera experience. Who we are looking for We are seeking students currently undertaking a performance based degree to join the Aida cast. What do secondments get out of this experience? You will be in the cast of Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour, an Opera unlike any other Opera in the world! You will work under the direction of our internationally renowned creative team and amongst a cast and crew at the top of their games. Your name will appear in the program alongside our international cast members and you get the experience of working on a production of international scale, from rehearsal room to stage. 1 See https://opera.org.au/whatson/events/aida-sydney Page 2 of 2 Participating students are required to: Commit to rehearsals over the period of Monday 9 March to Tuesday 24 March 2015: Monday 9 to Monday 16 March, rehearsals at Sydney Olympic Park, Sports Centre: schedule TBC. Tuesday 17 March to Tuesday 24 March, rehearsals at Fleet Steps, Indicative schedule: Tues 17 10:30 - 17:30 (at Opera Australia, Surry Hills) Wed 18 10:30 - 17:30 Thurs 19 14:00 – 22:30 Fri 20 14:00 – 22:30 Sat 21 14:30 – 22:30 Sun 22 Rest day Mon 23 Rest day Tues 24 14:30 – 22:30 Commit to performances from 25 March to 26 April 2015, with no shows on Mondays or on Good Friday. Demonstrate a high level of self-organisation and reliability. Follow internal Opera Australia policies, including WHS, Codes of Conduct etc. Cover all their own expenses, including travel and food expenses. We unfortunately cannot provide any reimbursements or allowances to secondment positions. Secondment role Secondment cast members will make up an integral part of the Aida cast in the role of Supernumeries. Supernumeries will have significant on stage time and play an important part of the production. To apply or find out more!
