Call him mentally ill all you want. I will even stipulate that he is a narcissist and sociopath, as I know one of those quite well enough to agree with the diagnosis in this kids case. But from the days of Cain and Abel, the meat on the bones of those clinical words is a towering haughty disregard for the value of other human beings. Selfish, vain, entitled, and EVIL. Yesterdays character flaws are todays illnesses. But that is a distinction without a difference; this set of flaws only goes down one road, darker and uglier with every mile. There is no saving this kind of soul short of divine intervention, and Gods patience is not infinite. This young man was pro-self, anti-God, determined to be the judge and jury of his fellow humans for having failed in their sacred duty of elevating HIM. Vengeance is MINE, saith Eliot Rodger. As C. S. Lewis explained, there are only two outcomes available for any of us. Either we say to God, thy will be done, or He says it to us. God turned from this seething, boiling mass of determined and ruthless selfishness and said it to him. This is how its going to be, young man? not a shred of genuine goodness or humility in you? nothing left of the things i put in there? you are your own master now, master of the world, the judge of life and death? Thy will be done, Eliot. With all attendant consequences, eternally speaking. There will be no heavenly grace for this man. Had it been given him, he would have flung it back into the Almightys face and told Him to go away. Self was the god, for Eliot. Self above all other selves, even above the Self who made him. As I have read from numerous theologians writing over centuries-- Whatever hell is, there is nobody there who does not WISH to be there. Gods presence cramps the style of the self self self person, shows him and everyone around him that he is are NOT supreme, but rather He is. Listening to this guys video rants proves clearly that HE is judge, HE will make you pay for diminishing him, HE is the high and lofty one who decides the fate of others. He has a view of himself as RULER, TYRANT.... God. For that kind of pride, the knowledge of ones own insignificantness which comes from a relationship with God is unbearable... and anything else, ANYTHING else, is better than that. So, Hell it is. Glad to be here. At least that annoying tyrant who calls himself God wont be around here to bug me.
