Callan United 0-3 Wexford Youths. Rarely has a scoreline been so misleading. Callan ran the visitors ragged for 80 minutes. A first half handball on the line should have reduced Wexford Youths to 10 men but the 200 spectators were left baffled when the player only received a talking to. Callan were denied in the resulting penalty by a terrific save. Attack after attack, hunger and chasing ever ball defined Callans mentality and to go in at half time at 0-0 was equally baffling. More of the same followed the break. Lessons have been learned in that you need to take your chances, especially against opposition such as Wexford Youths. Visiting manager Mick Wallace was quick to praise our style of play after the match. Proud Callan men will be hurting tonight and thinking of what might have been but should be proud of their efforts. Humility in defeat - Humility in victory.
