Calling Aucklander families! Te Marama Vocational Programme Wednesday 27th November 10.00 am – 11.30 am. Public meeting for interested parents and members of the community: Te Marama Post 21 Trust - Vocational Programme - For young people with significant behavioural challenges and/or autism and intellectual disability. Sunnydene Special School 48 Smallfield Avenue Three Kings, Auckland Te Marama Post 21 Trust was established in 2010 to develop a vocational programme for young school leavers with an intellectual disability and/or autism with challenging behaviour. We recognise the need for such a programme in Auckland to provide meaningful activities and life skills training to profoundly disabled Very High Needs ORS funded young people. It is our intention this vocational programme will operate in central/west Auckland starting February 2015. We have a board compromising parents and educational professionals. Over the last three years we have explored various options for establishing this programme. We are holding a public meeting for parents who may be interested in our proposed programme for their young person. At this meeting we will: explain Te Marama Trust – our history and our aim; introduce the Trust members; explain the intended programme – life skills, community participation, etc.; discuss which type of student this programme may be appropriate for; call for interest and support from attendees present, particularly parents who may be able to offer their expertise to help us create our programme; gather contact details from families who wish to be kept informed of progress of this Vocational Programme. Please RSVP if you intend coming along so we can ensure we have enough seating. Phone Lisa Martin on 636-0351 or email [email protected] We look forward to seeing you there.
