....Calling to Him a child, He put him in the midst of them and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven ...Whoever receives one such child in my name receives Me, but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin,it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.” Pesky or tearful, they can prove to be quite a handful, but you wouldn’t trade them for all the silver and gold in the world. They are yours to have and to hold. You were ecstatic when you learned that you were going to be parents and exuberant when that little bundle of joy was placed in your arms. You nurture them, tend to their every need, watch them grow out of babyhood into childhood (savouring every moment) and then guide them as they negotiate the highs and lows of adolescence. You delight in their littlest achievements, their quips and their quirks. You encourage and support them. You celebrate their innocence, their laughter, their wisdom. You love them unconditionally. You realize they need your presence more than your presents. Papa may preach and mamma may turn ‘Momster’ but at the end of the day they love you right back. One day the nest will be empty and you will count every second, every minute, every hour to their next call. In today’s world, children are exposed to an ever-increasing array of technological gadgets, devices, and social networking sites. They may also be at a risk of succumbing to peer pressure, and academic pressure may take its toll. Mum and Dad are needed to keep them grounded, to steer their boat into safe waters and ensure that the right values are firmly in place so that they may be equipped to take on life in all its colours and hues. Lets hope that every child on the face of this planet finds peace and happiness someday. HAPPY DAY, CHILDREN!
