Callout 08082014; At approx 1630 today the team received a request for assistance from an injured walker. The 16 yr old male who was part of a group suffered a suspected lower leg fracture in the vacinity of Kilfeggan in the Southern Mournes. The team responded, located, stabilised and packaged the casualty. Due to the location of the casualty and the treacherous nature of the surrounding terrain it was decided to request an helicopter evacuation. Fortunately due to improving weather, ICG Rescue 116 from Dublin was able to respond and the casualty was airlifted direct to Daisy Hill Hospital. A massive thanks to the local residents and in particular the farmers (and our own Willie Marks with his teleporter) that assisted with the recovery of our first response Landrover. This comes with the territory and although exceptionally difficult, were pleased to say the vehicle was recovered successfully with the only thing damaged being the drivers pride. A total of 16 members responded and stood down at 2130.
