While talking on NFL Network Wednesday night about his No. 2 ranking on the Top 100 Players of 2014, Johnson answered a question about how he could move up to the No. 1 spot. “We need to win a Super Bowl,” Johnson said. “That’s the No. 1 thing. That’s the No. 1 thing (and) should be for every team going into the beginning of the year. “We’re definitely in a place where we feel we could do that.” Denver Broncos quarterback and reigning NFL Most Valuable Player Peyton Manning ranked No. 1 this year. The rankings are determined by voting by NFL players. In all four years of the NFL Network’s rankings, players have voted the most recent MVP at the top of the list — Tom Brady in 2011, Aaron Rodgers in 2012 and Adrian Peterson in 2013. If the Lions are a Super Bowl contender in 2014, there’s a good chance Johnson would be in the MVP discussion.
