Cambodia Economics News: Rice husk to power agriculture SOMA energy, a subsidiary of SOMA group, will construct two bio-mass power-generating plants worth nearly $3 million that convert rice husks into electricity to supply Cambodian farmers in Bati district of Takeo province and Stoung district of Kampong Thom province. “All the investment is from SOMA at this stage, if successful, they would look to expand and seek other investors to partner with,” said Vong Sam Ang general manager of SOMA Consulting Service. He also added that each generator of the plant has capacity to produce up to 750 kilowatts per hour. SOMA said that the rice husk biomass plants will be operational sometime early next year.
