Camper of the Month for May 2014: Woodson! Woodson Firefox Wiseman - named after Charles Woodson and the Mozilla Firefox icon, is such a furry joy in our home! His father has had many older dogs, and his mother had never had any pets, and he has brought us both such joy! We adopted him in June 2012 as a 6-month-old puppy, rescued from a kill shelter in the south. We think he is a basenji/red heeler mix, although many people also think with the ears that hes part corgi - hes our happy, energetic mix. One of our favorite things to do is sing together. Whenever hes stressed, or has pent up energy that playing alone wont allay, all you need to do is start singing. Hell sit back, make his mouth into an OH shape, and start howling with you, often matching pitch if theres only one other human singer - definitely follows in his musical mothers footsteps! Many members of our family travel a lot, so he knows what a suitcase means. If he sees you packing one, hell lay down by it, cross his front paws, and lay his chin on them, giving you the most heart-wrenching dont go puppy face - and when you come back, hes just an orange blur, running around, so excited youve come home. Talk about a wonderful greeting from a tiring business trip! Although hes still got a lot to learn, he has a heart of gold, is fantastic with children (even strangers we meet walking - he just bows his head to them and licks their toes if they come close!). Our furry son is definitely a major part of the family!
