Can a Cup of Coffee Change Your Mind? Dr. Thalma Lobel, psychologist and author of Sensation: The New Science of Physical Intelligence, discusses how something like a warm cup of coffee can change the way you think about the world. Using the budding science of physical intelligence, Lobel explains how your “embodied cognition” is influenced by superficial details like temperature, texture or color. Research shows that people exposed to warmth over cold, for example, displayed more generosity toward friends and more kindness toward strangers. “Our thoughts, feelings and behaviors are grounded in our bodily states,” explains Lobel. “We would like to think that we are in control of our decisions. It’s not a very comfortable thought to hear that just because I touched something warm, I decided differently…You want to think that you are in charge of your decisions, of your emotions, and not that some arbitrary things like environmental cues affect us.” Lobel also demonstrates how those environmental cues can prove helpful in business by using physical intelligence to do things like inspire creativity in your team or gain an edge in a difficult negotiation. - See more at: success/videos/youtube/can-a-cup-of-coffee-change-your-mind#sthash.aFftD1L5.dpuf https://youtube/watch?v=R33dwl9vjQs
