Can someone please help me understand a crochet pattern? Im an extreme noob at reading patterns. Its this one: pattern-paradise/2014/11/14/free-crochet-pattern-trees/ I dont understand whats happening here: Round 1: Start with Magic Circle, work 8hdc in center, join, pull tail tightly to close the loop. [OK so now we have 8 stitches in a round, right?] Round 2: Ch1, hdc in each st to end, join. (8 hdc) [Does this mean were supposed to end with 8 stitches after this round? But if I do Ch1 + hdc1 onto 8 stitches, dont I end up with 16 stitches in total?] Round 3: Ch1, [hdc in next st, 2hdc in next st] to end, join. (12 hdc) [Ive completely lost track at how counting goes. Clearly doing Ch1 doesnt create a stitch. How are you supposed to Ch1 + hdc1 and only create one stitch?]
