Can someone truly be altruistic? Or, are their actions based in ego and selfishness and what they want? Going to gift two books to two people I feel are capable of the knowledge contained therein; and also obtaining The Creation of States in International Law - Second Edition - James Crawford, who also took over the writing of the books I am gifting, since the original author has gone on his journey. These books total roughly $85-$90 together. Adding in my book at $67.90, the total is coming to $159.21 after shipping costs. These numbers are to show the substance that these are not some mere book of fiction (LOL IRONICALLY, IT IS, BECAUSE IT IS A BOOK OF LAW), and that this is in some cases, two weeks of work for some people. I personally am gifting them this book because it will benefit them in their journey, their studies, and will expand their knowledge. I expect nothing in return for this. I do not do this because it will make me happy--even though the act of gifting knowledge does make me happy--by gifting a material object. Would this be considered altruistic to you?
