Had a journey full of detours and ridiculous last night. First I missed my turning to M1 and visited many suburbs of Nottingham. Then I made up good time booming down M1 and zipping round M25 and onto M23 ( towards Brighton - thats in the Saaaaaaarf) then I got to M23 closure 4 minutes after it closed for night works. Detour 2. Well we went round the world for fun . Oh joy yet more road works ! Left lane closed and cones etc. Just as I pulled out of left lane, I saw diversion sign pass and realised that unassuming little left turn just before the road works was my turn. Too late! Driven past it and on dual carriageway , unable to do a u turn. Eventually a right turn. Back. Turned down there. Got near Haywards Heath. But decided in a moment of madness that Id take the route my brother suggested , instead of the route I knew. Clearly I hadnt suffered enough. Took turning off, thought Jesus thats tight and realised Id turned into parking siding just before junction. Out other side without slowing down much, off proper exit. Then endless round a bouts and industrial parks to drive round. Got thoroughly lost in Burgess Hill . Got out phone sat nav. Turn right, turn right, turn right....back on road Id come in on. I thought I must have missed something. Turn right, turn right, turn right! Offs! Is this a conspiracy. Turned left , turn right, right, sharp right.... Into some ones gravel driveway. I dont think thats right either. Go back to round about and just before the round a bout on that side there was a turning, turn left. Aha! The correct turning was after the round a bout, something it failed to mention... I turned onto chain lane but it was meant to be Jane Lane. Honest to God! No wonder it sent me in circles, it was the wrong road. By time I got to flats I was a nervous wreck!
