Can the Dead Really Live Again? Would you say . . . yes? no? maybe? WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS “There is going to be a resurrection.” Acts 24:15,And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous. New World Translation. WHAT THAT CAN MEAN FOR YOU Comfort when loved ones die.—2 Corinthians 1:3, 4.Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God. Freedom from a morbid fear of death.—Hebrews 2:15.and that he might set free all those who were held in slavery all their lives by their fear of death. A real hope of being reunited with your dead loved ones.—John 5:28, 29.Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment. A family and a widow are comforted by the resurrection hope CAN WE REALLY BELIEVE WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS? Yes, for at least three reasons: God is the Creator of life. The Bible calls Jehovah God “the source of life.” (Psalm 36:9;With you is the source of life; By your light we can see light. Acts 17:24, 25)The God who made the world and all the things in it, being, as he is, Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in handmade temples; 25 nor is he served by human hands as if he needed anything, because he himself gives to all people life and breath and all things. The One who gave life to all living creatures is certainly capable of restoring life to someone who has died. God has resurrected humans in the past. The Bible reports eight instances of humans—young, old, male, and female—who were brought back to life on earth. Some had been dead for a short while, but one had been in a tomb for four days!— John 11:39-44.Jesus said: “Take the stone away.” Martha, the sister of the deceased, said to him: “Lord, by now he must smell, for it has been four days.” 40 Jesus said to her: “Did I not tell you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” 41 So they took the stone away. Then Jesus raised his eyes heavenward and said: “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42 True, I knew that you always hear me; but I spoke on account of the crowd standing around, so that they may believe that you sent me.” 43 When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice: “Laz′a·rus, come out!” 44 The man who had been dead came out with his feet and hands bound with wrappings, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them: “Free him and let him go.” God is eager to do it again. Jehovah hates death; he views it as an enemy. (1 Corinthians 15:26)And the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing. If a man dies, can he live again? I will wait all the days of my compulsory service Until my relief comes. 15 You will call, and I will answer you.You will long for the work of your hands. And the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing. He has “a yearning” to conquer that enemy, to undo death by means of the resurrection. He longs to bring back those who are in his memory and to see them live on earth again.— Job 14:14, 15.If a man dies, can he live again? I will wait all the days of my compulsory service Until my relief comes. TO THINK ABOUT A young boy growing into an old man Why do we grow old and die? The Bible answers that question at GENESIS 3:17-19 And to Adam he said: “Because you listened to your wife’s voice and ate from the tree concerning which I gave you this command, ‘You must not eat from it,’ cursed is the ground on your account. In pain you will eat its produce all the days of your life. 18 It will grow thorns and thistles for you, and you must eat the vegetation of the field. 19 In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return.” and ROMANS 5:12.That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because they had all sinned jw.org/en/publications/books/dead-live-again-tract/dead-live-again/
