Can the best player on the team actually be the worst player on - TopicsExpress

Can the best player on the team actually be the worst player on the team? I see many coaches that cater too much to a Star player in which she becomes isolated from the team and the attention the Star player receives causes issues for the rest of the team. Confidence is necessary to be successful, however, having your Star player be a good teammate is the most important thing for the team to be able to compete at a high level. The problem with todays world is everyone wants instant gratification and are not willing to put the work in to gain success. It is hard for a Team to operate with an outsider on it. I think kids gain great experience playing for multiple teams and multiple coaches. However, they need to make sure they are contributing to the team benefit and not seeking personal goals only. Being able to add to the rosters before a big event does not seem to do anything productive. It destroys the team. People you play with all year long now take a back seat to a new hired gun? One of the main reasons teams and organizations break up and do not stay together. Compete with how got you to the dance and teach the players how to develop into being a good softball player and a good teammate.
