Can we all agree for one moment on the astronomical inaccuracy of the shoot for the moon, even if you miss youll land among the stars Quote? First, the moon is roughly 394,000 km away. The closest star outside our solar system is Proxima Centauri, which is 4.2 light years away. How far is 4.2 light years you ask? Well if a light year is the distance light can travel in a vacuum over the course of a 365 day year, and the speed of light is roughly 186,000 m/s, and there are about 31.5 million seconds per year. Now multiply those numbers and we get 5.9 trillion miles/year. Ok so how far is 4.2 light years? Now multiply, 4.2x5.9x10^12= 24.6 trillion miles!!!!! So, now back to my main point. The quote should read, shoot for the moon and even if you miss, you will land in the empty, cold, dead vacuum of space, about 24.6 trillion miles away from a star.
