Can we honestly have a conversation about the contribution of the North to the development of Nigeria? A conversation not out of fear or spite but strictly on empirical data, without tribal sentiment or ethic balancing? when are we going to be able to look at the North, not as opponent but as brothers and contributors to the general well-being of the nation and ask them to stand up the potential within them? Its obvious the Northern leadership has failed- for political leadership that have not economically liberate the majority of the people is no leadership at all. We may argue all we like, but the numbers dont lie- all the development indices as regards Northern Nigeria is troubling! If development is truly a game of numbers, then the North must rise beyond the shade and illusion of political harmony to a painful question; how long must the political followership of the Northern masses continue to be use as a tool to promote and sustain the whims and caprices of a few family, while the Northern majority wallows in poverty.
