Can you all stand another one? Well, another day completed. I spent most of the day in the sun holding a sign and waving my flabby bat-winged arm at passing cars, wishing I had arms like Michelle Obama. Its crazy how holding a sign up or waving for several minutes at a time can really start to hurt! Waving, it takes muscles!!! Once again I was proven that humanity is generally good, or at least I like to think it is based on the kindness and generosity people have shown me. We got another hundred signatures and registered only 14 people today, but Im not going to complain because Ill take all the new voters I can get. I had people turning in signatures which was great, and had two sets of people come all the way from Nowata to help the cause (not going to tag because Im not sure if thats cool with them). One set brought me a case of water and signatures and the other brought an American flag and another for med marijuana. I had a very generous man come to bring me some money which I appreciate so much because I am down to quarters on this deal and was worrying about getting enough gas money to turn my petitions in on Monday, but now that is mostly covered. I had the crazy guy come and complain about there not being a law that allowed Native Americans to be President and I didnt even argue with him. One couple took the bus to come sign, which really showed some fortitude because they were obviously disadvantaged. We caught several folks who were just walking by... This one guy who was friends with my kilt-wearing volunteer Jeremiah Bullfrog Thennis (who should have a job as a sign-twirler) walked up to us, J says Hey man, what are you up to? and he said ah nothin, just walking around being black (hilarious) ended up sticking around for a few hours. Turns out I went to high school with his brother and he died this past year of cancer. He was wearing a necklace with his brothers ashes around his neck. He grabbed a sign and sweated his ass off for a few hours and he said that he was happy to do what he could for the cause because If I can make a difference in the life of one person in memory of my brother, Im happy. I hear you brother, may Victor rest in peace. Of course we had pissed off people, someone yelled get a haircut hippies (J is bald) and honkers all day long. (I really wonder if they hear that in the library, it would be fun to know). I broke one of my flip flops first thing and walked around all day with it blowing out despite my best efforts to superglue it. I got coal-rolled and I swear to dog if I hate anyone its those sorry pieces of shit. Do they not get it that they have to breathe the same air they are destroying? A nice bonus of the day was the opportunity to get to know J as he is the significant other to a friend I hold in the highest esteem. (turns out he is a really good man). We had one guy gawking so much he almost rear-ended someone at the stoplight and one couple that parked to sign had their truck roll backwards into a librarians car. (Her husband came later to sign so I guess they werent too mad). My naughty son who hasnt spoken to me for some time drove by three times and didnt stop to sign and I could kill him because he is a registered voter and we need every single signature we can get. All in all it was a good day and I am proud of what I and all the folks who have helped on this have and are doing. I know that it is looking promising on the numbers and I cant tell you how badly I want this to go through. Im following several pages of children waiting for CBD oil and it makes it all worthwhile. I am now extremely emotionally involved with this and will probably not know what to do with myself when this is over, hopefully this fall we will be pushing for votes. Even if we dont succeed this time I know in my heart that we have all done important work. What we all have done by publicly petitioning with our tents and pot flags waving on main street in towns all across Oklahoma is we have desensitized the people of this state. It changes their mindset to know this movement is happening and everyone now knows that the inevitable is coming. If I have to do this all over again I will, only next time I will be in from the get go and I will be smarter and more effective. I really want to thank William Patrick Jones for coming to town in the first place. I went and signed and took petitions home and the next time they came to town I just went and grabbed a sign and ended up taking him and his friend home for a slumber party. Willie showed me the ropes and got me going. I had never done a petition before and was scared to do it on my own when they left but I made it though. I know this is long, Im surprised you made it this far. Monday I go to Tulsa and turn what I have in. Im going to stay the day and volunteer and hopefully on the 15th I can couchsurf and hitch with someone and go to the capitol for the presentation. I worried that after Bokoshe I would never have a project as important as what I had accomplished there, but I feel really good about this even though its only been weeks instead of a couple years. This is one of the most important movements going on right now. Oklahoma has been widely considered to be the last state that would legalize. Lets all hope this works. Please sign.
